7. Only three finishes? What's up with that!
Currently all HingeHeadsTM and HotHeads (lamp finials) are available in Antique Pewter, Antique
Brass and Antique Bronze. In the future we may expand to more finishes for our official product line.
Custom HingeHeadsTM are already available in additional finishes, materials and colors. Customers
may inquire by sending an email to
inquiry@hingeheads.com
for more information.
8. What are HingeHeadsTM made of?
HingeHeadsTM are made of pewter. Pewter is an alloy primarily composed of tin (usually 92-93% for quality
pewter, though it can be a bit less), copper (1-7%), antimony and bismuth (1-3%), zinc for strength (1-4%, usually
replacing a percentage of tin and adding a touch of hardness/brittleness) and traditionally lead (1-3%). The
lead in pewter makes it a bit softer and more malleable and makes it easier for a caster to do greater detail. Our
master casters are of the caliber that they can make great castings with leadless pewter. As of May 15th, 2004
HingeHeadsTM will be made of leadless pewter. It is important to us to make environmentally friendly products.
Though the lead in "classic" pewter is minimal, we strongly advise our customers not to eat their HingeHeadsTM.
9. Why do I need HingeHeadsTM?
HingeHeadsTM are a way to express your attitude, your social or personal affinities, and your lifestyle.
Why do we want to express ourselves? Ask yourself...
"Why did we start scratching on cave walls?"
"Why do we wear rings on our fingers?"
"Why is the desire to express important?"
HingeHeadsTM bring continuity to your living spaces. Although created for home décor, we think they
add ... just a little bit more.
