years (93 in `01 and 88 in `02), and has recorded double-digit tackle
games 17 times in his 31 starts.
CLARK RECORDS DOUBLE-DIGIT TACKLES VS. HOGS
Senior defensive end Jason Clark (Starkville, Miss.) had 10 tackles
at Arkansas in Week 11. It was the first time this season and the fourth
time in his career that he had made at least 10 tackles in game. Clark
has been credited with five career fumble recoveries, and has had four
tackles for loss (minus 16 yards), two fumble recoveries and three pass
break ups from his defensive end position this season.
TURNER SETS MSU ALL-PURPOSE MARK VS. UA
Sophomore tailback Nick Turner (Atlanta, Ga.) set the Mississippi
State single-season all-purpose yardage mark with another all-around
effort at Arkansas this past weekend. Turner rushed eight times for 25
yards, caught one pass for 11 yards, returned one punt for 9 yards and
brought back four kickoffs for 75 yards. His 120 all-purpose yards give
him 1,580 yards for the year, breaking the old mark (1,546; Kevin
Prentiss, 1998) with one game remaining on the schedule. One week
earlier at Tennessee,
his 344 all-purpose
yards set a school
single-game record,
erasing the previous
mark (312 yards) set
by James Johnson
against Alabama in
1998. Turner contin-
ues to rank among
the Southeastern Conference's leaders in a variety of categories. He is
second in the league in all-purpose yardage, averaging 143.6 yards per
game. He leads the conference in kickoff return average with a 24.2
mean on 23 returns.
