In his 13th season in Starkville, MSU head coach Jackie Sherrill is the dean of the Southeastern Conference football coaches.
During his tenure at State, Sherrill has taken the football program to heights never before reached. He has become the school's all-time
winningest head coach, elevated the program to consistent contender status in the nation's toughest conference, and redefined expectations
for the Bulldog faithful. In his 13 seasons, Sherrill has guided State to six postseason bowl games, an SEC Western Division championship
and berth in the league title contest.
Sherrill, who is tied for 28th on the all-time Division I victory list with 180 wins, is currently bettered in career coaching longevity by only
three other active coaches -- Florida State's Bobby Bowden, Penn State's Joe Paterno and South Carolina's Lou Holtz.
