daylight-savings time
DAYLIGHT-SAVINGS TIME begins at 2 A.M. on Sunday.
So does DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME, DAYLIGHT SAVING
TIME, and DAYLIGHT-SAVING TIME.
Mrs. B hopes that regardless of which form you choose to describe
the time change, you and others in your newsroom will be
consistent.
The first Sunday in April is when you turn the clock ahead an hour
if you're in a changeover state.
Remember "spring" forward and "fall" back?
2 A.M. on the last Sunday in October is when you turn the clock
back an hour.
If the expression stands alone, as in 8 P.M. daylight time, use
lowercase.
But with Eastern Daylight Time (E.D.T.), Central Daylight Time
(C.D.T.), Mountain Daylight Time (M.D.T.), and Pacific Daylight
Time (P.D.T.), use uppercase.
