MRS. BLUEZETTE
HAS LOW "MORAL"
Mike James, Editor
To paraphrase the frustrated
fictional TV anchor Howard
Beale, played by Peter Finch,
in the 1976 cinema classic
"Network".....Mrs. Bluezette
is "mad as hell and (she's)
not going to take it any
more." She's sick and tired
of reading insider reports
about "low moral."
Mrs. Bluezette, who appears to be getting cranky in her
advancing age, is a former high school English teacher and
insists we, who profess to be journalists, should stop
embarrassing ourselves ... to wit ...
Today's Lesson: MORAL vs. MORALE
by Mrs. Bluezette
Moral has to do with what's right and wrong.
Morale has to do with being cheerful and glad to be at work...
or not.
Morel is a delicious mushroom that looks like a little brain on
a stalk.
If you see a lot of gloomy faces at work day after day,
MORALE is in the toilet.

After listening to her whine
incessantly about the sorry
state of broadcast grammar,
the editor of NewsBlues
convinced longtime TV
anchor/reporter Mona Scott
to make her grammatical
feelings known.
This is her first column as it
appeared in the Daily News
Bluezette, February 21, 2001.
