possessive pronouns
Possessive pronouns have no apostrophe: HERS, ITS, THEIRS,
YOURS, WHOSE, ONESELF.
"Who's" means "who is."
v
WHO'S going to be in master control tonight?
"There's" means "there is."
v
THERE'S no need to panic.
"It's" is the contraction for "it is."
v
IT'S going to cost several thousand dollars to repair the live
truck.
"Its" is the possessive form of "it."
v
ITS front end was badly damaged.
A sentence about the wrecked truck using both "it's" and "its" looks
like this.
v
IT'S going to cost several thousand dollars to repair ITS front
end.
Until next time, it has been yet another magical moment of grammar
euphoria, at least for Mrs. B.
