Mrs. Bluezette's Grammar Guide
"abortion clinic" vs. women's clinic
Mrs. B is on a rampage about maintaining one's objectivity as a
reporter.
Here's a letter from a fellow teacher who suggests an example of
using language that expresses a belief system rather than using
neutral words:
"Am I the only one who gets irritated when I hear somebody call
a women's clinic an `abortion clinic'? Whether we are pro-life or
pro-choice, are we not supposed to be NEUTRAL and
FACTUAL? If a clinic only does abortions, then, yes, it is indeed
an abortion clinic. Otherwise, it's a women's clinic or a clinic
where abortions are performed... Let's leave politics and
personal beliefs out of the news!"

beliefs at home as you write and report today's news.
