malapropisms part 2:
evoke/provoke, faze/phase, harass/harangue
We continue today with our lesson on mala propisms, words we often
confuse because they sound alike.
"Evoke" means to bring to mind.

The sight of the bowling alley EVOKED memories of his first
assignment.
"Provoke" means to stir up on purpose.

Their photog tried to PROVOKE a fight.
"Faze" means to disturb someone's composure.
v
She was totally in control during the live shot; nothing FAZED
her.
"Phase" means a particular part in a course or a development.
v
We'll start with the news gathering PHASE of the business.
"Harass" means to annoy someone relentlessly.
v
The kids starting HARASSING him as soon as we took him live.
"Harangue" means to rant at someone in a speech.
v
The editor HARANGUED me on my failure to get enough
cutaways.
