Nursing Home Quality Report for Professionals
Nursing Care Facility
Limitations of Data Analysis
It must be understood that while this analysis may be valuable in identifying nursing homes that perform better
than others, individuals should consider additional sources of information when evaluating quality of care provided
by a nursing home. The models are limited by the following factors: 1) despite the efforts of CMA and
HealthGrades, there still may be instances of missing, outdated, inaccurate or incomplete data; 2) the data only
addresses survey performance. Other nursing home quality measurements, such as patient care outcomes or
nurse staffing, are not accounted for in this analysis.
HealthGrades does not recommend or endorse any particular nursing home. Rather, it strives to provide unbiased
information regarding nursing home licensing and complaint survey performance. Only individual patients can
decide whether a particular nursing home is suited for their unique needs.
Thomas Boardman, Ph.D., Professor of Statistics, Colorado State University (CSU), Co-Director, CSU Center for
Quality and Productivity Improvement, assisted HealthGrades in developing this methodology and generating
ratings for HealthGrades.
