GALIL MOTION CONTROL SHIPS DMC-2100 ETHERNET
STAND ALONE CONTROLLER
Combines Remote Access & Increased Connectivity with Proven Reliability
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 15, 1999 -- Galil motion control, inc., pioneer and
leader of digital motion control technology, today announced that they are shipping the
DMC-2100 stand alone motion controller that uses the Ethernet communication protocol.
The series is available in 1- through 8- axis formats which enables control of both step
and servo motors on any combination of axes.
The DMC-2100 features high-speed long distance communications that enables
connectivity between any number of computer hardware devices located on a LAN, such
as I/O modules, MMI interfaces, PCs, PLCs and vision systems. With the DMC-2100,
engineers can work over the Internet or a company's intranet using a common browser
and perform diagnostics. Information can be uploaded or downloaded from a remote
site.
Ethernet was originally developed by Xerox in late 1970, and then reenergized
again in 1980 with support from DEC and Intel. Today, Ethernet is becoming the
standard for open platform serial communication protocols. It is commonly transmitted
via a 10Base-T baseband signal over twisted pair cable. The DMC-2100 comes
standard with the 10Base-T, but is also available with the 10Base-F fiberoptic option for
use in noisy, industrial environments.
