GALIL MOTION CONTROL ANNOUNCES
NEW COMPACT PCI BUS
CONTROLLER
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 2, 1998 --
leader of digital motion control technology, today announced their new DMC-1600 Series
of Compact PCI Bus motion control cards. The new Compact PCI Bus controllers use
the rugged Eurocard chassis, which provides speed, ease of use, and `plug and play'
installation. Designed for optimum flexibility, each card provides up to four axes of
motion control and can be used with step motors, servo motors and hydraulics on any
combination of axes.
The DMC-1600 features many enhancements, including 80 user-configurable
inputs and outputs, non-volatile program memory with multitasking of up to eight
programs, high-speed communications and on-board sinusoidal commutation for
brushless motors. The Compact PCI Bus Controller provides dual high-speed FIFOs for
sending and receiving commands and a secondary FIFO for instant access to status and
parameters.
In addition, the DMC-1600 provides high-speed servo update rates with sample
rates as low as 62.5 microseconds per axis and control of up to 12 million encoder
counts/sec and step motor control of up to three million steps per second. Modes of
motion include point-to-point positioning, linear and circular interpolation, contouring,
gearing and ecam. Programmable acceleration and deceleration with profile smoothing
eliminates `jerk'. Also, the controller provides continuous vector feed of an infinite
number of linear and arc segments to ensure smooth following of complex contours.
