Description
Galil`s CAM generating software enables the user to define the
cam table by motion intervals: Each interval is defined by the
endpoint coordinate of the master and the slave. The type of
the interpolation within the interval may be specified as linear
or cubic. Linear interpolation is used for intervals where the
master and the slave must move proportionally, resulting in
effectively constant gear ratio. Cubic interpolation is used in
intervals where the slave accelerates. The effective gear ratio at
the end of the interval may be specified.
The table (right) shows a typical example. It is followed
by the graphical display of the slave position and velocity vs
master position.
For the specific application of Flying Shears, the program
allows an easy way for constructing the ECAM table. The user
simply enters the parameters of the application which include:
1. Cut length
2. Maximum web speed
3. Cutting time interval
4. Maximum stroke distance for shear
5. Maximum motor velocity
6. Maximum motor acceleration
7. Resolution of master and slave
The program analyzes the requirements and tests for consis-
tency. It then constructs the optimal cam table which results in
minimum power dissipation in the motor.
The set-up table and the resulting cam graphs are shown
below.
