The DMC-1500 is a high-perfor-
mance, state-of-the-art motion con-
troller designed for stand-alone opera-
tion. It is available in a compact,
industrial enclosure or as a card-level
unit. Using a 32-bit specialized micro-
processor and a custom gate array, the
controller provides DSP performance
without sacrificing ease of use and
cost effectiveness.
The DMC-1500 is available with
up to 8 axes per unit allowing the
engineer to purchase only the number
of axes required. The DMC-1500 can
also be used with step motors, servo
motors, and hydraulics on any combi-
nation of axes.
The DMC-1500 achieves superior
precision through use of a 16-bit
motor command output DAC and a
sophisticated PID filter that features
Kp, Ki, Kd, and velocity and accelera-
tion feedforward and integration lim-
its. Two encoders are provided per axis
along with automatic dual-loop damp-
ing for backlash compensation.
Advances in speed include 8 mil-
lion counts/sec encoder feedback, a
125 µsec sample rate per axis, and
RS232/RS422 communications up to
38.4K bps.
Designed to solve complex motion
problems, the DMC-1500 can be used
for applications involving jogging,
point-to-point positioning, vector
positioning, electronic gearing, multi-
ple move sequences, and contouring.
The controller eliminates jerk by pro-
grammable acceleration and decelera-
