If no crack is found, the swingarm has more useful
life and can be used. If a crack is found or suspected,
Retailers should contact Cannondale Dealer Service
for information on how to obtain a no charge
warranty replacement. Do not permit the rider to
continue to use the swingarm.
Warranty replacement and installation must be
performed by an authorized Cannondale Retailer.
This swingarm is part of a frame, and bicycle, that
met/exceeded U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission (CPSC) standards and Cannondale's
own more rigorous standards.
This bulletin is a sincere effort to communicate a
specific need to regularly inspect these swingarms to
see if they are cracked or worn out. Please post and
save this notice so you may refer to it.
Inspection of bicycle components and frames should
be an important part of your service maintenance
routine. See Section D of the latest Cannondale
Bicycle Owner' s Manual.
Note that the life of frames or components for a given
rider cannot be predicted. The more use a bicycle
sees, and the harder it is ridden, the more frequently
it must be inspected. Bicycles, particularly lightweight
bicycles, need to be cleaned, maintained and
inspected. The need for inspection is ongoing. This
reality should be practiced by your shop and
communicated to your customers.
