STAR NUT

INSTALLATION TOOL

This tool is used to press the special single flange star nut (kit # KB506/) down into

the top of a Cannondale System Integration

(SI) fork with a carbon steerer tube.

This tool assures that the star nut is pressed in straight and to the correct depth of
40mm below the top of the fork steerer tube.

1. Make sure that the steerer tube is cut to the correct
length. When the system is assembled with all desired

headset spacers, the top of the steerer tube should be 2-
3mm below the top of the stem clamp. Then set the

single flange star nut into the top of the steerer tube with
the threaded section pointed down into the steerer tube.

2. Place the collar part of the tool over the top of the

steerer tube.

3. Push the driver down into the collar so that the pin
goes through the hole in the star nut.

4. Using a hammer, tap in the driver part of the tool

until the star nut is fully seated. The tool will
automatically set the star nut in the correct position.
