CHAPTER ONE
Guide to Safe Child Carrier Use
Before every use, check the child carrier and its components
against the following checklist. The information following the
checklist explains how to perform these checks. This is not a
comprehensive maintenance program. If you are not certain if
the child carrier has a problem, take the child carrier to your
Trek dealer for service.
Checklist- Before every child carrier use:
Check that the wheels are straight.
Check the tire inflation.
Check the attachment of all wheels.
Check that the wheels are straight.
Spin each wheel and watch the rim as it
passes through the brake pads or near the frame. If
the rim wobbles, up and down or from side to side,
take the child carrier to your Trek dealer for service.
Check the tire inflation.
Inflate the tires to the air pressure
recommended on the tire sidewalls (Figure 1.2).
Check the attachment of all wheels.
To be ridden safely, the wheels of the child carrier must be
firmly attached to the frame. Child carrier wheels are attached by
one or more types of quick-release wheel retention mechanisms:
· Clip-pin (Figure 1.4)
· Push-button (Figure 1.6)
· Lever-type (like used on bicycles, Figure 1.7)
BEFORE EVERY USE:
CHECK THE CHILD CARRIER

CAUTION
A gas station hose may inflate a tire too rapidly, and the
indicated pressure is often inaccurate, causing the tire to
fail. Use a hand-operated pump with an appropriate gauge.
CAUTION
A child carrier that does not work properly can cause you to lose
control and fall. Inspect the entire carrier thoroughly before every
use, and do not use it until any problem has been corrected.
