CHAPTER FOUR
Inspection, Adjustment & Lubrication
Adjustable Canopy
On some models the canopy on the child carrier
can be adjusted for convenience or protection
of the child. The canopy works as a full cover,
and can be adjusted for ventilation or additional
weather protection. To increase ventilation, detach
the hook-and-loop strip at the bottom of the clear
window, and roll the window up. It can be secured
by the elastic loops (Figure 4.22) at the top.
If preferred, the entire canopy of some child
carrier models can be removed. The canopy should
always be in place when in bicycle trailer mode
to protect the child from road debris brought up
by the rear tire of the lead bicycle. Unsnap the
bottom of the canopy (Figure 4.23), remove the
handlebar (see
Handlebar
on pages 25-26 for
further information), and lift the straps off the top
of the upper framework. Re-install the handlebar.
Some canopies include a transparent tinted
sunscreen (Figure 4.24). The lower support
is spring loaded to hold its shape. To fold the
sunscreen, press gently in and up. To unfold, pull
the lower edge of the sunscreen down and out
until the spring snaps into place.
