Connecting the Trailer to the Lead Bicycle
Connecting the trailer to the bicycle: dropout mount
Some bicycle models have fastening points for a disc
brake. These same points can be used to attach a hitch
cup (Figure 2.5). This cup is available from your dealer
as additional equipment.

To install the hitch cup to a dropout
This procedure is usually done with the bicycle in
a workstand.
For instructions on properly removing and
installing the rear wheel of the bicycle, refer to the
lead bicycle's Owner's Manual.
1. Remove the rear wheel.
2. Place the hitch cup on the inside of the left
dropout (Figure 2.5).
3. Install the two M6x1.0 bolts from the outside of
the dropout.
4. Install the one M5x0.8 bolt from the inside of
the dropout, through the hitch cup.
5. Tighten the mounting bolts:
M6x1.0:
150-250 lb·in (17-28.3 Nm)
M5x0.8:
80-125 lb·in (9.6-14.1 Nm)
6. Install the rear wheel.
