Guide to Safe Bicycle Trailer Use
Properly Secure the Child in the Carrier
WARNING
If the O-ring or shoulder strap are placed too high the child
could choke. Choking can result in serious injury. Always
adjust the crotch strap so the O-ring meets the child's
lower chest.
To secure the child with the retention system
1. Follow the instructions
To prepare the child carrier for a
child
.
2. Place the child in the seat.
If placing two children in the carrier, secure the first child in the shoulder
harness portion of the retention system before placing the second child in
the carrier.
3. Place the crotch strap (Figure 1.24) between the child's legs.
Adjust the strap length so the O-ring is centered at the child's lower chest.
4. Thread the shoulder harness through the O-ring.
5. Close the buckle (Figure 1.22) over the child's left shoulder.
6. Tighten the harness.
Pull the loose strap end from the buckle over the child's right shoulder.
For two children, attach both shoulder harnesses, then close the single lap
belt across both children.
7. Pass the lap belt through the loop(s) of the crotch strap(s)
(Figure 1.24).
8. Close the buckle of the lap belt.
9. Tighten the lap belt snugly.
To push the jogger or stroller
1. Follow the instructions
To secure the child with the retention
system.
2. Attach the wrist leash, grasp the handlebar firmly, and
disengage the parking brake.
To remove a child from the retention system
1. Engage the parking brake.
2. Remove the lap belt.
Open the buckle, and un-thread the belt from the loop(s) of the crotch
strap(s).
3. Remove the shoulder strap.
If removing two children from the carrier, remove the first child from the
carrier before removing the second shoulder strap.
4. Remove the child.
5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for a second child.
