CHAPTER ONE
Guide to Safe Child Carrier Use
The child restraint system is designed to prevent the child, or
children, from falling from the child carrier in case of bumps or
jolts. A child must always be belted snugly into the seat when
in the child carrier.
A child carrier is only designed to carry one child per
restraint system. Child carriers with a single retention system
are designed to be used with one child only, carriers with two
retention systems can be used with two children, or may be
used with just one child. If a single child is placed in a child
carrier with two restraint systems, the child must use the
center retention strap system.
Before placing a child in the child carrier, make sure the
child carrier cannot inadvertently move by setting the parking
brake. Only after the child is secure in the retention system
should you release the parking brake. Once you release the
parking brake, do not let go of the carrier. After use of the
carrier, never attempt to remove the child from the carrier
without first setting the parking brake.
WARNING
Never allow a child carrier to move while a child is on board
without a firm grasp on the handlebar. If the child carrier
rolls inadvertently it may result in serious personal injury.
When pushing the child carrier hold the handlebar firmly, and
always engage the child carrier parking brake before placing
a child in the carrier, or attempting to remove the child.
PROPERLY SECURE THE CHILD IN
THE CARRIER
Properly Secure the Child in the Carrier
WARNING
Failure to properly adjust and use the child retention system
at all times could allow the child to partly or fully fall from
the child carrier resulting in personal injury. Properly secure
the child in the carrier with the retention system prior to
releasing the parking brake and moving the child.
