CHAPTER ONE
Guide to Safe Child Carrier Use
BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER EVERY USE:
TAKE CARE OF THE CHILD CARRIER
Keep the child carrier clean.
To work properly, the child carrier must be clean. If the frame
or a component is dirty, clean it with a soft, damp cloth and
Wrench Force® bike cleaner or a similar product. If the fabric
cover or seat is dirty, use a soft nylon brush and wash with a
solution of water and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives,
solvents, or bleach.
Do not leave the child carrier out in the weather.
When not in use, keep the child carrier in a location where
it will be protected from rain, snow, sun, etc. Rain and snow
can cause the child carrier to corrode. The ultraviolet radiation
from the sun can fade the fabric canopy or seat, or crack any
rubber or plastic on the child carrier.
Use proper storage for the child carrier.
Improper storage is very hard on a child carrier. Always
completely dry the child carrier before storage to prevent rust
and mildew. Before storing for an extended period of time, clean
and lubricate it. Do not store near electric motors, as ozone from
motors destroys rubber, nylon and paint. Before using the child
carrier again, be certain it is in good working order.
Before storage, always make sure the child carrier is
completely dry. Storing the child carrier when wet or moist will
cause rust to form on the metal parts, and mildew will form on
the fabric parts.
Before using the child carrier again, be certain it is in good
working order. Complete the
Checklist- Before every child
carrier use
on pages 2-5.
Safely transport the child carrier.
Never transport the child carrier on the outside of a car. The
high wind speed can cause damage to the child carrier.
Protect the child carrier from theft.
· Keep a record of the serial number in a safe place. See page
ii for the location of the serial number on the child carrier.
· Purchase a lock that is effective against bolt cutters and
saws, and follow the recommended locking procedures. Never
leave the child carrier unlocked while unattended, not even for
a minute.
· With quick-release wheels, lock the wheels as well as the
frame of the child carrier.
