How much time should I allow?
You can create a movie within almost any time frame.
Movies can be loosely formulated, live action interviews with a minimal amount
of editing. These can be completed in just a few minutes.
Movies can also be intricately edited stop-motion and live action productions with lots
of special effects. These can take as long as you would like to spend perfecting them.
The Favorite Things activity described in this book is a combination of live action
interviews connected with some sound and visual editing. The activity can be completed
in about five, hour-long lessons if you have 24 students working in small groups.
- Lesson 1
Pre-production (mostly writing scripts and making storyboards)
- Lesson 2 - 3
Production (filming the interviews)
- Lesson 4 - 5
Post-production (editing)
Students can create movies as special, one-person projects or work in production teams
involving the entire class.
