Air Hockey tri cup Page 2
This game can most be compared to a soccer shootout. One team will be on offense (team A)
versus a goalie (team B).
The objective for team A is to score 7 goals before team B gains 7 possessions. After each
point (offense or defense), team A will transition in their next player who will receive the
puck and begin play on offense. This procedure will continue until one team has 7 points.
Team B will change their goalie after each game. Each player has to play goalie for an entire
game.
Points clarified:
Team A: 1 point for each goal
Team B: 1 point for each possession (this includes puck flying off table, fouls, etc.)
1 point if team A scored on (i.e., charged on, score on self)
Each team will play 3 times as offense (team A) and 3 times as defense (team B) resulting in
a total of 6 games.
Note to participants: This is a game that I came up with in practice as I was trying to find that "clutch" shot
(my 6-6 shot). The advantage obviously goes to the defense as all they have to do is gain control of the puck
and in our testing that proved to be true. Even with that said, this is a pivotal section of the Tri-Cup if you can
"break" the defense and steal a game. In testing, it has been done and in a lot of cases even when the defense
held there were a lot of really close games. I can honestly say that this event tests your nerves on both ends of
the table (especially defense it's very frustrating on offense) which is why I liked it so much. It was the
closest to actual game/tournament pressure that I could simulate. I look forward to seeing some definite intense
battles here and hope that everyone enjoys playing this as much as I do.
Sincerely Jason Rios
