The growing
popularity for the
collecting of Disney
Fine Art is testament to
the lasting adoration
that classic Disney
characters have
earned through
decades of family
entertainment.
These first three in
the series are from
the masterful hand
of Peter Ellenshaw,
who believes that
"a picture must
look real. If I
can't believe the
picture I paint, I
am not satisfied.
Paintings must
be alive."
The full-color posters
that Warner Bros. used
to promote the original
theatrical runs of Looney
Tunes cartoons typically
featured popular characters
in rather nondescript scenes;
that way, they could be used
for any latest release. They
were made feature-specific
by having theatre operators
affix a separate, smaller
promotional piece called a
"lobby card" to the actual
poster. The current
scarcity of the original
artwork has made
them highly sought
after collectibles.
