DEALER PROFILE
AS THE NEWEST HIGH-PERFORMANCE
athletes to get support from Suzuki
New Zealand, Juliette and Nicky have
turned in some pretty impressive
performances recently, culminating
with gold at at last year's world
champs at Gifu in Japan.
Amongst all this excitement, our
two top sportswomen have also
taken delivery of a pair of identical
Swifts to get them around on their
hectic schedules.
The Swifts are a perfect fit for
the qualities of aspiring Olympic
champions, and with their chic
appearance and spirited performance
(the cars that is), totally in keeping
with the sport the girls represent.
Cambridge based Nicky Coles (33) and
Aucklander Juliette Haigh (22) paired
up in 2003 in what could be seen as
a perfect combination of experience
and youth. They were placed sixth
at the Athens Olympics in 2004 and
went on to win both the Munich and
Lucerne World Cup legs.
If you see the bright blue Swifts
out and about with their stunning
graphics, you'll know you're in the
presence of sporting greatness. In
more ways than one!
It's official! As we go to press, the news
has come in that Suzuki sponsored
athlete and adventurer Mark Inglis has
become the first double amputee to
conquer Everest. Apart from a couple
of minor hitches early on when one
of his hi-tech prosthetic legs broke,
Mark has had a dream run on his long-
awaited attempt on the world's highest
mountain. The final ascent from Camp
4 was made in perfect weather with
much jubilation from his support team.
Mark has been an inspiration to many
New Zealanders since losing both
legs to frostbite after being trapped
on Mt Cook for 14 days in 1982.
Congratulations Mark from everyone
at Suzuki.
Mark knocks
it off!
WHEN YOU'RE BUYING A NEW CAR,
the most important thing to consider is
the Total Cost of Ownership.
This is based on estimates of the
distance you might travel, the cost of
servicing, repairs and maintenance, fuel
usage, and vehicle depreciation over
the period you intend to keep the car.
Perhaps the most significant figure
is depreciation. This will be higher
when a manufacturer is selling a
lot of vehicles to fleet customers
at discounted prices, or simply
offering regular discounts to move
outdated stock. The discounted price
immediately becomes the market price,
so that when you go to trade your two
or three-year-old vehicle, the value may
have dropped dramatically.
Suzuki's policy is quite simple:
keep the list price down and avoid the
need for discounting. Since this policy
was introduced in 2003, we have led the
market in providing high value with one
of the lowest rates of depreciation of
any vehicle make in New Zealand.
When you factor in the fully transparent
pricing that includes all on-road costs,
you begin to see how Real Value works
for us and our customers.

Real Value: It means what it says.

HAWKES BAY SUZUKI
Bigger is better, right? Not for Hawkes
Bay Suzuki in Hastings who recently
sold their Mazda franchise to focus their
efforts on building the Suzuki presence
in their region. MD Dennis Sweetman,
who owns the dual-franchise Suzuki/
Peugeot business in partnership with his
wife, says it makes perfect sense given
where Suzuki is heading worldwide.
"The vehicles are superbly engineered
and finished, they are reliable and
economical, and the European influence
is proving very popular. The success of
Swift is just the beginning," enthuses
Dennis. "The all new Grand Vitara is an
awesome vehicle, and between that,
Swift and Liana, we've got this market
pretty well covered."
Dennis has been in the motor vehicle
industry for more than 35 years, most
of them in the Hawkes Bay. He and his
15 staff are committed to providing
quality service for their customers, a
commitment that is well supported by
Suzuki's Real Value policy.
"Real Value is an excellent and inno-
vative move by Suzuki that has enabled
us to form better relationships with our
customers," says Dennis. "They like to
know that what they are paying will be the
same as their neighbours, that everything
is up front and they're not going to be hit
with extra charges once they've decided
to buy. And driving out with a full tank
of petrol makes their day!"
"I'm a long term player in the motor
vehicle industry," says Dennis. "I believe
that Suzuki is too, and I believe they
really are committed to giving more and
more New Zealanders a chance to own a
new car. And a very good car at that."
