Francis Martin scored his 2
nd
Superbike win of the season with a dominating
performance at the final round of the Parts Canada Canadian Superbike
Championship. Piloting his Coors Light Racing-Blackfoot-Team Suzuki GSX-
R1000 to a crowd-pleasing victory, Francis was followed home by Diablo
Performance Racing Team Suzuki GSX-R1000 rider Steve Crevier and Clint
McBain on another Coors Light Racing Blackfoot Team Suzuki GSX-R1000. Clint
also piloted his Coors Light Racing Blackfoot Team Suzuki GSX-R600 to a 3
rd
place finish earlier in the day to clinch 2
nd
place in the 600 championship
standings.
With the 2003 season now concluded, there was no question about which bike
dominated Superbike racing in Canada during the 2003 season. Out of the
possible 24 podium positions available through the 8 rounds, Suzuki GSX-R1000
pilots took 14 of them more than the other 3 manufacturers combined and
more than double the nearest competitor!!
In fact, Suzuki was the only manufacturer to be on the Superbike podium every
round and the only manufacture to sweep the Superbike podium not once, not
twice, but three times!!
The speed and power of the GSX-R1000 was undeniable in fact, some of the
best praise for the GSX-R1000 came from rival brand riders. This quote in Cycle
Canada from the new Canadian Superbike Champion, Pascal Picotte, regarding
the Coors Light Racing Blackfoot Team Suzuki GSX-R1000 that Francis Martin
rode at the Mosport round pretty much sums it up.
"That bike was so fast it blew the f---ing stickers off my bike."
