SUZUKI CANADA ADDS 2 MORE QUALIFYING ROUNDS FOR
THE WORLDWIDE GSX-R CUP FINAL
The Canadian Superbike Championship season opener at Shannonville and the
Atlantic Motorsport Park round of the series are now included as GSX-R Cup
qualifying rounds.

(For immediate use) To ensure Suzuki mounted GSX-R riders have
the best opportunity possible to qualify for the GSX-R Cup Final in France, two more rounds of the Canadian
Superbike Championship Series have been designated as qualifying rounds. With the addition of the Shannonville
opening round and the Atlantic Motorsport Park round, GSX-R riders will now be competing for GSX-R Cup points at 6
of the 7 Canadian Superbike Championship events. This move will also make it easier for any rider who experiences
a DNF to make a comeback in the GSX-R Cup series.
The 2003 World GSX-R Cup Final will take place on October 19
th
in France. Two Canadian Suzuki racers will be sent
by Suzuki Canada to compete in the event. The program will be open to Pro riders competing on Suzukis in the Parts
Canada Superbike Championship series. One rider from the Pro 600 Sportbike class and one rider from the Pro
Open Superbike class will be selected to compete in the GSX-R Cup final. The riders will be selected based on the
highest total point accumulation in the 6 GSX-R Cup qualifying rounds with the winners being announced at the
conclusion of the Mt. Tremblant round.
The riders attending the GSX-R Cup final will be competing on Suzuki GSX-R750s that will be supplied by Suzuki
France. To ensure fair allocation of the machines, they will be allocated to the riders by a draw. Full details on the
GSX-R Cup program will be announced shortly. Riders from Teams receiving more than $15,000.00 support from
Suzuki Canada Inc. are not eligible to participate in the GSX-R Cup Final Program.
