(3) Front Fork Spring Rate, Damping Force
The chart below compares the front fork spring rates and damping forces characteristics of the
2000 GSX-R750, 2002 GSX-R1000 and the 2003 GSX-R1000. As you see, the 2002 GSX-
R1000 had much increase compared to the 2000 GSX-R750, in terms of both spring rates and
damping forces.
Now, thanks to the reduction in friction achieved by using the DLC coating, the 2003 GSX-R1000,
compared to the 2002 GSX-R1000, has a 10 percent increase in spring rates and 20~70 percent
increase in damping forces.
