(2) Front Brake Disc
With the use of the radially mounted 4-piston calipers, the brake discs can be designed smaller
while increasing the braking force. The diameter of the front brake disc is reduced from 320mm on
the 2002 GSX-R1000 to 300mm on the new GSX-R1000.
The floating pattern has also been changed.
These changes reduce weight by 160 grams in total (80 grams for each disc).
The lighter weight front brake calipers and discs reduce inertial moment.
