3) Newly Designed Frame and Swingarm with Ideal Rigidity
(1) Frame
The new GSX-R1000 has a newly designed twin-spar frame.
The new GSX-R1000's steering head section is made of cast aluminum.
The new GSX-R1000's swingarm pivot-plate section is also made of cast aluminum.
The new GSX-R1000's main frame spar on each side is now made of an extrusion, instead of
pressed and welded aluminum as on the 2002 GSX-R1000.
The main frame spar is designed with two internal reinforcing ribs, which in effect divide the
extrusion lengthwise into three separate internal compartments.
The new main spar design allowed the GSX-R1000 engineering team to precisely adjust overall
frame rigidity, utilizing the lessons gained from the development of the GSV-R Moto GP racebike.
The horizontal and vertical dimensions of the new frame are the same as those of the 2002 GSX-
R1000.
