(5) Connecting Rod
The connecting rod is made of chrome-moly steel and is shot peened. Shot-peening treatment
involves shooting the connecting rod with ball-shaped granules at speeds of more than 100
meters per second, which hardens the surface of the material and increases strength.
Because shot-peening makes the material stronger, the connecting rod can be thinner, reducing
weight.
The small-end diameter is 16mm, big-end diameter is 38mm, and arm thickness is 8mm. These
figures were chosen for a good balance with the power output and weight.
