(2) Cylinder Head
The GSX-R1000 has downdraft cylinder heads, each with a compact combustion chamber
carrying four valves set at a narrow 25-degree included angle.
The intake valves are set at 12 degrees, and the exhaust valves are set at 13 degrees from the
cylinder centerline.
The center-to-center distance (or pitch) between the cylinders and throttle bodies is 80mm,
allowing the intake ports to be straight on horizontal plane. The result is more efficient cylinder
charging and more efficient combustion.
Combustion chamber volume is 22.4cc and compression ratio is 12.0:1.
