GSX-R1000 has a liquid-cooled 4-cylinder inline 4-stroke DOHC engine.
Engine displacement is 988cc. 73.0mm bore x 59.0mm stroke.
This long-stroke design produces superb torque and responsive acceleration in the low-to-mid
range.
The cylinder pitch is 80mm. The small cylinder pitch contributed to keeping the engine width
narrow.
