(3) Lightweight Exhaust Pipe Material
The new GSX-R1000 has an all-titanium exhaust pipe.
The 2001 GSX-R1000's exhaust pipe was made of a combination of stainless steel and titanium;
its header pipes and collector were made of titanium, and the joint pipe was made of stainless
steel.
Generally speaking, an all-titanium exhaust pipe is about 600 grams lighter than a stainless
steel/titanium exhaust pipe and about 2 kg lighter than an all-stainless-steel exhaust pipe.
