4) Better Exhaust Efficiency
(1) Muffler Capacity
Muffler capacity has been increased for the new GSX-R1000 to compensate for catalyzer
resistance and to further reduce exhaust back pressure.
The muffler outside diameter is increased from 120mm on the 2002 GSX-R1000 to 130mm on the
new GSX-R1000.
The inner diameter is increased from 108mm to 116mm.
The muffler length is 520mm, which is 100mm longer than the 2002 GSX-R1000.
Muffler capacity is increased from 4,900cc to 6,900cc.
Bigger muffler capacity contributes to increased engine power output.
