2) Better Intake Efficiency
(1) Fuel Injection with Dual Double-Barrel Throttle Body
The 2003 GSX-R1000 is equipped with a fuel injection system.
The fuel injection system improves fuel efficiency, power output, throttle response and cold
starting, while reducing emissions.
The new GSX-R1000 has a newly designed fuel injection system which is simpler, lighter and
more efficient.
The new GSX-R1000 is equipped with dual double-barrel throttle bodies, instead of the four
single-barrel throttle bodies on the 2002 GSX-R1000. In case of the fuel injection on the 2002
GSX-R1000, each throttle body was individually cast, and each throttle body was connected with
connecting poles.
The newly designed dual double-barrel throttle bodies are shaped simple and to allow elimination
of the connecting poles which connect the 1st and 2nd throttle bodies and the connecting poles
which connect the 3rd and 4th throttle bodies. In addition, the number of tuning links are reduced
from 3 on the 2002 GSX-R1000 to 1 on the new GSX-R1000.
Furthermore, the material of delivery pipes is changed. While the 2002 GSX-R1000 delivery pipes
combined aluminum pipes and resin pipes, the new GSX-R1000 delivery pipes are made entirely
of resin.
As a result of these changes, the weight of the throttle bodies on the new GSX-R1000 is reduced
by 372 grams in total, from the one on the 2002 GSX-R1000.
