full description of the telescope and the data reduction is also provided.
During the ASTRO-1, mission dwarf galaxy Holmberg IX was serendipitously
observed by the UIT due to its close proximity to M81. Hill
et
al.
1993 con rmed
that no recent star formation was occurring in Holmberg IX and determined the
time frame in which the most recent event had taken place. During the second
ight of the UIT, a dwarf galaxy program was initiated. The results of this
program were rst presented by Gessner
et
al.
1995.
