You want to catch some big air?
On a big mountain? Then point your Suzuki toward the Sierra
Nevada range of Central California and chill out at the mother of
all mountains: Mammoth. Mammoth Mountain is the #1 ski resort
in North America. And with good reason. You want to ski? You got
it. Snowboard? Got you covered. Cross-country, snowshoe, snow-
mobile or just hang out and party? Yep, yes, sure and oh yeah.
With its recently renovated village now complete, Mammoth
Mountain is more than just big. It's big on fun.
Skiing and Snowboarding. From Stump Alley to
Micro Jib-a-Luscious.
If downhill is your thing, then Mammoth is your mountain. With
150 trails (yes, 150), you can ski a different run all day. These are no
run-of-the-mill runs, either. They range from beginner to expert
and they're full of challenges for everybody. One trail is even three
miles long. Try Easy Rider if you're a beginner, Stump Alley if
intermediate and Encore if you're an expert.
Do you board? Mammoth has three unbound terrain parks for
all levels of snowboarders. The Family Fun Park has a 10-ft. halfpipe
plus the cool Micro Jib-a-Luscious Zone with lots o' obstacles. The
Unbound South Terrain Park has hits and tables throughout. Then
there's the infamous Unbound Main Park with jibs, Super Pipe,
Super-Duper Pipe, multiple jumps and more.
If you're a little rusty, every day's a snow day at Mammoth's ski
school. Every ability level is catered to, with top instructors from
around the world. If you need equipment, there are plenty of
places to rent, including Wollywood (by the Main Lodge, with free
overnight storage), Footloose Sports Center, and Wave and Rave
Snowboard Shop, both located in the village.
