You don't go outside in your swimming suit when the
temperature dips below freezing. You put on a coat, gloves
and hat to keep you warm and in top performance mode. That
same thinking applies to your Suzukiso please remember to
give yours a cold-weather makeover.
The following checklist will help you get the best perfor-
mance out of your Suzuki during the winter chill. Your Suzuki
Service Technician will be more than happy to help you out and
explain which services your vehicle does or does not need.
Ignition System
Ever been in a car that won't start? No fun. Especially when
it's freezing outside. Having your ignition checked is the best
way to prevent this from happening.
Fuel System
Cold weather can cause moisture to form in your fuel line.
One way to avoid this is to add fuel de-icer to your tank.
Another way: keep a full tank. Helps prevent moisture from
forming in the first place.
Belts, Clamps and Hoses
Your Suzuki Service Technician will be able to quickly check
the tightness and condition of these vital parts.
Exhaust System
What goes in, must come out. Make sure your exhaust is
making the proper exitbe safe. Have it checked.
Lights
Make sure they're working properly. Have a Service Technician
inspect them and replace any burned-out bulbs.
Wiper Blades
A no-brainer. Bad wipers mean poor visibility. Not a good
thing during a blizzard. Replacing them is quick and easy. And
don't forget: always pack an ice scraper.
Heater and Defroster
Warm and toasty vs. cold and miserable. You be the judge.
With regards to the defroster, a nice, clear windshield beats a
fogged one any day.
Tires
Bald may be beautiful, but not when it comes to tires.
Especially in inclement weather. Check tires for tread wear,
nicks, cupping, etc.
Cooling System
Seems like an oxymoron, a cooling system in the winter. But oh
so important. Have it flushed and refilled. It's wise to check the
level, condition and concentration of the coolant periodically.
Battery
Fact: cold weather can rob your battery of nearly 50% of its
strength since the demands on it increase. Simple maintenance
like having your technician scrape away corrosion from battery
posts and cable connections might be all the help it needs.
