It is because of the reasons discussed in this paper that the Campaign Committee for Open Schools urges the
world community to monitor the re-opening of schools in Burma for they may close again soon. The Cam-
paign Committee will continue its efforts until:
· All universities are opened full time unconditionally and not closed again under any circumstances.
· Students are free to pursue their education without fear of persecution.
· Students are not oppressed by any means.
· Student political prisoners who have been imprisoned, are freed and have their educational rights restored.
· Students have the right to form student unions in order to protect their rights.
· All Students have equal access to education.
· The cost of education lowered.
· The government demonstrates a genuine and sustained effort to reform the education system of Burma.
