Curriculum Overview
Curriculum Overview
Designed to prepare future physicians for the
application of basic clinical science in remote
situations. Combines didactic, hands-on, and
field instruction into a comprehensive 151- hour
program taught over 4 weeks including a 5-day
practical exercise in the backcountry of the
Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
An accessible, enriching, creditable, month-long elective for 3rd and 4th year osteopathic and
allopathic medical students in February

Located about 30 miles South of Knoxville, Tennessee, Camp Wesley Woods is a beautiful 710-acre
retreat 20 minutes from what is called the "Peaceful Side" of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Streams, cliffs, mountain forest and river frontage provide stimulating settings for outdoor recreation and
