Wilderness Medical Society - SIG Registration Procedures

Renewal

SIG Active status is valid for one year. (January to January) A new registration form must be filled out and
received by the WMS by November 1
st
of each year, along with appropriate dues payment in order to maintain
Active status. All SIG's must renew their registration by November 1
st
regardless of their original application date.

Partial Year Registration

Although the annual registration and renewal date is November 1
st
of each year, a school may register a SIG at
any time. SIG's that submit applications after the November 1
st
deadline will attain Active status on the last day
of the month following the month in which the application is received. The renewal date remains 01 November,
but as compensation for a partial year registration, the SIG will receive copies of that year's "back issues" of the
WMS Newsletter for each member. (These "back issues" are subject to availability).

SIG Leader Name and E-mail address

Normally, a school's SIG Leader is identified on the WMS SIG Website, including their name and email address.
This information is used only to allow for ease of communication to SIG Leaders.

Wilderness & Environmental Medicine Journal

Each Active SIG will only receive one free hardcopy of the Journal (remember that all WMS members receive free
online access to the Journal). The journal will be sent to the individual identified as the SIG Leader. It is
expected that the SIG Leader make the journal available to all members of the SIG.

WMS Website

Each Active SIG will receive a group logon id and password for the Wilderness Medical Society's website. This
will allow access to all areas of the website, including the member database, online newsletter and online journal.
SIGs should limit dissemination of this logon and password only to members, as it allows access to WMS
members contact information.

Educational Resources

Active SIG's are allowed temporary loan of WMS educational materials for no charge. The loan period shall not
exceed 60 days, or the SIG will be charged the full replacement amount for the materials. In order to receive the
materials, the SIG representative should contact the WMS SIG coordinator via email, listing the specific item
requested and the dates of the loan period. A valid credit card number must be provided to the WMS in order to
borrow educational materials. The card will not be charged if the materials are returned within the loan period.
Requests can also be submitted via the Resources page of the WMS SIG website.
