May need to think about liquid forms of meds and dosing if taking
children.
Also, think through your communication systems and resources. For example, if
on a remote diving trip, do your have communications, and do you know the
Diver's Alert Network Emergency number?
As a Medical Officer, I go through the following when preparing for a trip:
·
I go through the "5 W's" carefully.
·
Understand the environment you will be experiencing.
·
Know your team medically, i.e. allergies, etc.
·
Understand what rescue tools you might have.
·
Review necessary skills that you might not have used
in a while or learn the ones you need, i.e. dentistry,
etc.
·
Put team kit together. Weigh it and re-do until you
are happy.
·
Insure each member has a personal kit.
·
Review immunizations & Travel concerns.
·
Rescue Insurance for all.
·
