TEAM MEDICAL KIT:
I customize the kit using the above information plus data as to risks. I usually
think about generic items, such as antibiotics, wound care supplies and then go
system by system thinking about what I wish to bring and/or carry. Below are
suggestions, which will again need to be customized, based on principles
discussed previously.
These should be packaged properly, kept dry, and incredibly well-marked!
The specifics below can be easily modified for your personal preference,
and as new items are released into the marketplace, you may certainly be aware
of better choices...the below is an example only!
1)
Antibiotics...this is a very personal choice.
a.
Cephalexin (Keflex) is commonly used for skin and soft tissue. Can
be used for respiratory and urinary tract. Cefadroxil (Duricef) has
easier dosing (once a day).
b.
Quinolones such as Cipro or Levaquin is a must for GI, respiratory,
skin, etc.
c.
Tetracyclines (doxy) are a great choice as has broad use, including
ricketsial.
d.
Metronidazole for giardia, abdominal infections. Tinidazole is my
favorite, but can only get overseas.
e.
? Malaria meds such as mefloquine/chloroquine or fansidar.
f.
Mebendazole for helminthic infections.
g.
Azithromyocin for all infections of the upper and lower respiratory
tract.
h.
Valcyclovir for herpes outbreaks (easier dosing than acyclovir).
2)
Analgesics

by the FDA!
