Make a list of your credit card toll free numbers in case you have to
cancel them. Is your bank available on weekends and holidays?
Use ATMs during the daylight hours.
Never give your credit card number unless you know to whom you
are giving it.
Make sure you get your credit card back after a transaction

Use cable locks to secure multiple pieces of luggage.
Use cable locks in train compartments to secure luggage to
luggage racks or other similar anchor.
Use small combination locks on all zippers.
Never take your hands off of your possessions in public.
Watch out for police "strong arming" tourists demanding money
Mark your luggage with colorful tape or other markings
When flying
Drink at least eight ounces of water every hour when flying
Don't drink tap water on the plane. There are no standards for
aircraft water tanks for cleanliness, treatment procedures, nor water
quality in the cities where the aircraft tanks are refilled

At hotels:
Do not give your room number to strangers
Choose an inside room away from the street
Leave lights, TV on when the room is vacant
Pull curtains and jam doors shut
Arrange knock signals no knock no open door
Answer phone "Hallo" not with your name.
Know where the emergency exits are
Keep room key in your possession at all times
Obtain a room between the second and the sixth floor
Use only your first initial and last name when checking in
Always use the elevator not the stairs stairs are a good place to
get mugged
Never leave your key where someone can see where you are
staying and worse than that, what room you're staying in.
Take advantage of the concierge they know what's going on in
the street.
Make sure that the valet parking attendant you turn your keys over
to is an employee of the hotel.
