Gas Ignition & Operation
1. Ensure exhaust flue is positioned securely.
2. To use the Home Oven, the gas pilot light is to be lit by turning and depressing the control knob to the pilot position, while
holding control knob down, push the button for the Piezzo electric igniter. Once the pilot flame is ignited the control knob can be
released after 30 seconds and the pilot should remain on. (if it doesn't, repeat the procedure). The pilot light can be viewed
through the lower door of the oven. When using the gas system only it is recommended to leave about 1/4" gap through the lower
vent control.
3. The Home Oven control tap can then be set to the desired setting to cook. The control knob has positions for `high flame', `low
flame', and in between settings. There is also position for `pilot only' and `fully off'. For the initial warm up, the flame setting can be
set fully open (High) for about one hour, after which time the flame can be reduced back to about half position. Depending on the
cooking load you will need to experiment with the settings. SHOULD THE PILOT LIGHT GO OUT FOR ANY REASON THE GAS
WILL AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF AND THE IGNITION PROCEDURE WILL NEED TO BEREPEATED. It is recommended that
any adjustment or maintenance is done by a qualified trade's person.
Precautions When Cooking With Gas
The lower door of the oven has been built with an adjustable vent control; always ensure that there is a small area opens (1/4") to
supply air to the gas system. Do not have the vent of the oven closed off completely. If flame appears at any stage out the burner
door turn the main gas valve off and then start procedure again with the correct amount of vent area. If the jet back fires again, call
your gas specialist.
Cleaning Of Gas Burner & Cavity
On a daily basis and after the oven has cooled. Ashes are to be removed by brushing and wiping with a damp cloth. (Ash should
be stored in a metal container, preferably with a tight fitting lid, and disposed of when cooled and in a manner suitable to local by-
laws of your area.) If there is a build-up of charcoal ash or other material, the method of cleaning this area, requires the following
preparation. Isolate the gas system from the supply. (Turn off the isolation valve.) Through the lower door of the oven, remove the
`Zanuzzi' burner by pulling the complete burner assembly. The complete gas burner can be removed from the burner cavity ready
for cleaning. (A wire brush is ideal for this purpose.) Take care when cleaning the cavity that you do not damage the pilot or flame
sensing device.( If required this can be removed via the rear of the oven as an assembly. It is recommended that this work be
performed by a qualified trade's person.) To re-install the gas burner, it can be placed back into the cavity where you will need to
lift a drop-down flap in the rear of the cavity to allow the burner to access the main gas jet. There is a locating hole in the floor tiles
for the single pin at the front of the burner to locate. When cleaning this area always ensures that the drop-down flap is free to
move.
Gas Troubleshooting
A professional gas service technician should be called if problems exist or adjustments are required. A blue flame with an
occasional yellow or pink flare at the top of the flame is required from a natural gas supply. If this is not the case cleaning and/or
adjustments maybe required. The gas components should be removed from the oven and cleaned (wire brush and hose) of any
build up, inspected and reinstalled.
