hat got you into stamping?
Embossing is the usual answer.
The easiest way to sell stamping to
your customers is simple: embossing!
Embossing is easy entertainment for any cus-
tomer and really, that is what your store is all
about, entertainment! You must show
embossing on a regular basis to new cus-
tomers to catch their eye, and even longtime
stampers love seeing a new embossing powder
or ink color.
I have noticed on my travels that few stores
demonstrate embossing regularly. Nothing
gets new people more excited than seeing an
image they love with the professional
embossed look. Embossing is really a simple
process with a few tools and many options.
The number of techniques invented around
these tools and products are endless.
Let's take a look at the basics tools needed
for great embossing:
Ink
First and foremost the right kind of ink can
dramatically increase your demonstrating
success. For demonstrating, I prefer to show
embossing powders with colored pigment ink.
I know many folks would tell you to show a
clear embossing ink, but I find it confusing to
people just starting out, so I show colored
pigment ink with clear powder to beginners,
then bring in the fancier powders and clear
ink later. This makes it easier for a beginner to
tell how much ink is on the paper
and if they have stamped it
well enough to emboss.
Clear embossing inks
take a bit of trial and
error simply
because it is
difficult
stamping
Emboss it!
Capture customer attention with this ageless technique.
