Fainting
A sudden drop in blood pressure can prevent
enough oxygen from getting to the brain. This
lack of oxygen causes a person to faint, or lose
consciousness from a few seconds to a few
minutes. Typically the fainting victim collapses
suddenly. Listed below are the actions to take
if a person becomes unconscious.
1. Turn the victim onto the back and make
sure he or she has plenty of fresh air.
2. If vomiting occurs, roll the victim on his
or her side and keep the windpipe clear.
3. When the victim regains consciousness,
reassure him or her and apply a cold
compress to the face.
Eye Injury
In a skin care center, the possibility for eye
injury is a risk. Types of injuries include cuts
and scratches or getting an embedded object or
chemical solution in the eyes. Knowing the proper
precautions and procedures for dealing with eye
injuries can help to avoid serious eye damage.
Cut, Scratch or Embedded Object
·
Place a gauze pad or cloth over both eyes
and secure with a bandage.
·
Do not try to remove an embedded object.
·
Get to an eye specialist or emergency
room immediately.
Chemical
·
Hold the eyelids apart and flush the eyeball(s)
with lukewarm water for at least 15-30 minutes.
Be careful not to let runoff water flow into the
other eye if only one eye is affected.
·
Place a gauze pad or cloth over both eyes
and secure with a bandage.
·
Get to an eye specialist or emergency
room immediately.
Fainting victims regain consciousness almost
immediately. If this does not happen, the
victim could be in serious danger and you
should call 9-1-1 immediately.
