Section the hair into four sec-
tions, from forehead to nape and ear to
ear. Apply barrier cream around the
entire hairline.

Measure and mix the formula using
an on-the-scalp lightener. Here, two acti-
vators are mixed with 2 oz.
(60 ml) cream lightener and 4 oz.
(120 ml) of 20 volume (6%) developer.

Release 1/8" (.35 cm) horizontal
partings at the crown. Apply the light-
ener 1/2" (1.25 cm) away from the
scalp through to the ends on both
sides of the strand.*
5.
Place cotton at the base, in
between partings, to prevent seepage.
6.
Work downward to complete the
back section, using the same procedures.
7-8.
Lift and bring each parting
down to allow air oxidation. Complete
the back using the same procedures.
