Classic
Clients in the classic category are very coordinated in their
wardrobe. They wear classic colors, such as navy, black, white,
cream, beige, brown and gray. Most things in their wardrobe can
be combined with each other. Every piece of clothing is well
chosen and usually exemplifies a design look. They have one
favorite purse that goes with everything and they wear expen-
sive, high quality shoes. Their jewelry is small but very valuable.
Their hair always needs to be in good shape, with an appropri-
ate shade of color. Sophisticated short hair is popular, along
with classic bob styles. If the hair is long, it is often worn in a
ponytail or in a bun. The hair color needs to be classic as well,
for example thin highlights, natural reds, and various shades of
brown. Hair is usually colored to brighten up the natural color
or to cover gray.
Casual
For clients in the casual category everything should be comfort-
able and/or low maintenance. Their wardrobe often doesn't
include high heels, only flat and comfortable shoes and sneakers.
Their purse is sometimes replaced by a backpack. They wear a
lot of blue jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts. Even for elegant
events they will find a way to be practical and comfortable.
Their hair has to be easy to style and maintain. Sometimes they
like perms because it makes the hair easier to style. Often the
hair is longer and pulled back into a loose ponytail.
Lifestyle
Considering your client's lifestyle when making a design decision is important since it will help
determine a style's practicality. Factors that need to be considered are: job/career, hobbies (such as
sports), family, time willing to spend on hair, skill or ability to care for hair and the money the client
is willing to invest in the hair maintenance.

Career
Consider what type of image the client's job requires. Since many clients spend most of their time
at work, those requirements cannot be neglected. A client who runs the front desk in a five-star
hotel will need a different look than someone working at a hospital, a farm, or a department store.
